How it works

The due date is 266 days after the day of conception. That is 38 weeks from conception, the same as 40 weeks counted from the last period. The July table has 31 rows, one per day.

Worked example

Say the day of conception is 15 July. Add 266 days to reach 7 April. Day 1 of July gives 24 March and day 31 gives 23 April. This example uses a 365-day year.

Estimated due date for each day of July, counting 266 days from the day of conception. The table uses a 365-day year.

Common questions

Which month will my baby be born?

The due date month is a guide, and many births come earlier or later. A conception in July points to March and April.

What if I only know the month?

Use the middle of the month. The due date then falls in the middle of the window. Day 15 of July maps to 7 April.

How many weeks is the gap?

Divide the days by 7 to get weeks. From day 1 of July to 24 March is 266 days, which is 38 weeks.

What if my cycle is not regular?

When cycles are irregular, an ultrasound can date a pregnancy more reliably than a calendar. A date of 15 July would then give 7 April only as a first guess.

Does the year change the due date?

Only if the span includes 29 February, which moves the date one day earlier. If the span from 15 July includes a 29 February, 7 April reads one day earlier, as 6 April.
