Ideal weight at 4 ft 11 in, male
Use the form for your own height. The example shows how the range is built for a man at 4 ft 11 in.
How it works
Each formula takes a base weight for your sex at 60 inches. It then adds a fixed amount per inch above 60. The three formulas use different numbers. The page shows all three and the range between them. Below 60 inches the Miller base of 56.2 kg is the whole answer.
Worked example
A man at 4 ft 11 in is 1 inch under 60. The step is multiplied by 0. Devine gives 50 + 2.3 × 0 = 50 kg. Robinson gives 52 + 1.9 × 0 = 52 kg. Miller gives 56.2 + 1.41 × 0 = 56.2 kg. In pounds that is 110 lb, 115 lb and 124 lb. The range is 110 to 124 lb.
Common questions
Why do the formulas give different answers?

Do these formulas account for muscle or frame size?
No. They use only height and sex. Someone with a large frame or a lot of muscle can be healthy well above the range. For a man at 4 ft 11 in the range of 110 to 124 lb is a starting point, not a limit.

What if I am under 5 feet tall?
The formulas were written for heights of 5 feet and over. Below that the calculator uses the base weight. Treat the result as rough. For a man at 4 ft 11 in the height is under 60 inches. The formulas use their base weights.
How does this compare with BMI?
A healthy BMI range also gives a weight range for your height. The two often overlap but they are not the same, because BMI ignores sex while these formulas use it. For a man at 4 ft 11 in a healthy BMI is 92 to 123 lb, against 110 to 124 lb here.
